My Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that creativity is a lifelong journey of growth, curiosity, and self-expression. I see art as a universal language—a way to communicate, heal, and explore the world when words aren’t enough. Inspired by John Dewey’s idea that “education is life itself” and Paulo Freire’s emphasis on empowerment, I strive to create a classroom that celebrates individuality, fosters critical thinking, and connects learning to real life.

In my classroom, hands-on, experiential learning is at the heart of everything we do. I believe students grow best through experimenting, taking risks, and learning from mistakes. I’m dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive space where students feel celebrated for their unique voices, cultures, and perspectives. My goal is to inspire confidence, encourage self-expression, and empower students to use art as a tool to navigate their emotions and make sense of the world around them.

Above all, I want my students to see art as more than a final product—it’s a way of thinking, feeling, and making meaningful connections. Through my teaching, I hope to instill skills like empathy, confidence, and creativity, helping students leave my classroom ready to view the world through an artist’s lens and make a positive impact.
